Bellevue Plumbers and Plumbing Contractors

If you are remodeling your home or thinking about replacing a hot water heater, you might be considering tankless or instant water heating. There are many good reasons to consider either a whole-house tankless water heating system or several strategically placed "booster" tankless hot water heating units. To help you with your decision, here are some of the basic facts about Bellevue tankless water heaters.

Whole-house tankless units can range in price from $199 to $4000.

Storage water heaters usually last 10 to 15 years; tankless units last 20 years or more.

Tankless water heaters are 8% to 50% more energy-efficient depending on the amount of hot water used in a day and placement of the units.

Tankless heaters can reduce your water heating cost by as much as 60%.

Tankless water heaters heat 2-5 gallons of water per minute.

Tankless water heaters make a great deal of sense in low-use areas of your home or detached structures. They also make a great deal of sense in structures that are not monitored constantly, such as a vacation house, in which a broken storage tank could cause a great deal of damage.

Seattle Water Heaters

Storage water heaters are by far the most common type of water heater in the U.S. today. Ranging in size from 20 to 80 gallons (or larger) and fueled by electricity, natural gas, propane, or oil, storage water heaters work by heating up water in an insulated tank. When you turn on the hot water tap, hot water is pulled out of the top of the water heater and cold water flows into the bottom to replace it. Because heat is lost through the walls of the storage tank (this is called standby heat loss), energy is consumed even when no hot water is being used. New energy-efficient storage water heaters contain higher levels of insulation around the tank, substantially reducing standby heat loss.
